Trans-mountain Tunnel – the headquarters of Điện Biên campaign

In the historical Dien Bien Phu battlefield, most of the relics belong to the old fortress group. The headquarters of Dien Bien Phu campaign vestige in Muong Phang is the most outstanding and special one. It is characterized with the primeval old and confidential forest. In the past, this place was honorred to be chosen as the headquarter for the campaign and the residence of the General.

D1 Hill Relics (Điện Biên Phủ Victory monument)

D1 hill belongs to Dominique cluster. It is one of the five hills in the east, forming a solid shield to protect the center of Đien Bien Phu basement. The French colonialists used this fort and two other hills, D2 and D3 as the front denfene in the east. The 2nd attack by the soldiers of the 209th Regiment in 312th company of the Vietnam People's Army to the Đien Bien Phu basement was aimed at D1 hill.

A1 Hill relics

A1 hill located in Muong Thanh field, Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province. A1 hill is the most important part of hills in the East of Dien Bien Phu, Where the battles was fierce, long-drawn and most essential for the campaign. The battle in A1 on 31st, March 1954 is commence for period two and three in Dien Bien Phu campaign. In this battle, Vietnamese army wanted to destroy Eliane 2, which base in the line of defense at west Dien Bien Phu. Eliane 2 is France’s name of A1 hill.

Bản Phủ citadel and Hoàng Công Chất Temple

The temple worshiped Hoang Cong Chat is built at the center of Ban Phu. This is a place to recognize the great merits of Hoang Cong Chat - who had the merit of building and defending the frontier region, against the invasion of foreign enemies at that time. And since then, every year on the 25th day of the second lunar month (the death day of Hoang Cong Chat), the temple has been opened with a solemn ceremony, traditional folk games to commemorate Hoang Cong Chat.

Điện Biên Phủ Martyrs' Cemetery

Đien Bien Phu Martyr's Cemetery is located at the bottom of the A1 Hill, opposite the Đien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum. Peoples and visitors often come here to honour heroic martyrs as the Vietnamese tradition "When drinking water, think of its source."

Him Lam cemetery

Many heroic soldiers have sacrified for the Đien Bien Phu victory, leaving grief for all living people. Thousands of them were rested in the cemetery in Đien Bien Phu, but thousands of missing remanings are not yet found. The martyrs’ cemeteries in Đien Bien Phu include: A1, Đoc Lap, Him Lam, and Tong Khao cemetery... Him Lam cemetery is located at Him Lam district in Đien Bien Phu city with an area of 1.7 hectares. It was set up from 1957-1960 and upgraded in 1995 with 689 martyrs.

Độc Lập Cemetery

Đoc Lap Cemetery is located in Thanh Nua Commune, Đien Bien District, Đien Bien Province. The Cemetery was built from 1957 to 1958 with an area of 3.3 hectares. This is a large-scale cemetery with 152 plots and 2,432 brick graves. Each gravestone is attached with a star and a small flower vase sponsored by Viettel Corporation. At the furthermost of the cemetery, there are an incense burner and a memorial of 15m high.

Tông Khao Cemetery

Tong Khao cemetery is located at Tong Khao village, Thanh Nua commune, Đien Bien district. The graves in Tong Khao cemetery were collected from Hoa Binh, Bản Kéo and Vietnamese volunteer cemetery in Udomxay province since 1982. Currently, the cemetery is constantly expanded and has more than 2,800 martyr graves.
