Him Lam cemetery

Many heroic soldiers have sacrified for the Đien Bien Phu victory, leaving grief for all living people. Thousands of them were rested in the cemetery in Đien Bien Phu, but thousands of missing remanings are not yet found. The martyrs’ cemeteries in Đien Bien Phu include: A1, Đoc Lap, Him Lam, and Tong Khao cemetery... Him Lam cemetery is located at Him Lam district in Đien Bien Phu city with an area of 1.7 hectares. It was set up from 1957-1960 and upgraded in 1995 with 689 martyrs.

 

The heroic history of the nation in the holy land Đien Bien Phu will remain forever. Many brave soldiers have sacrificed to regain independence and freedom for the nation. They are now rested at the Martyrs' Cemetery in the motherland. The future generations will always remember of their bravery.

 
 
 

At Him Lam cemetery, most graves are anonymous. However, all heroic martyrs with or without names on the gravestones are the symbols of courage and heroic sacrifice. The next generation will remember and honour all of them forever for their contribution to the country’s independence and unification.

D1 Hill Relics (Điện Biên Phủ Victory monument)

D1 hill belongs to Dominique cluster. It is one of the five hills in the east, forming a solid shield to protect the center of Đien Bien Phu basement. The French colonialists used this fort and two other hills, D2 and D3 as the front denfene in the east. The 2nd attack by the soldiers of the 209th Regiment in 312th company of the Vietnam People's Army to the Đien Bien Phu basement was aimed at D1 hill.
